Ngày 26/10/2019, Bộ Quốc Phòng đã ban hành Chỉ thị số 98/CT-BQP về việc tăng cường biện pháp nâng cao chất lượng công tác gọi công dân nhập ngũ trong tình hình mới.
Theo Chỉ thị này, bên cạnh những kết quả tốt đạt được trong công tác tuyển chọn, gọi công dân nhập ngũ nhằm góp phần quan trọng nâng cao sức mạnh tổng hợp của Quân đội, đáp ứng yêu cầu, nhiệm vụ bảo vệ vững chắc Tổ quốc, tạo nguồn lực lượng dự bị động viên hùng hậu thì vẫn còn rất nhiều trường hợp lợi dụng, trốn tránh thực hiện nghĩa vụ quân sự, gây bức xúc trong dư luận, cũng như chất lượng đội ngũ cán bộ khung huấn luyện chiến sĩ mới ở một số đơn vị còn hạn chế … còn để xảy ra nhiều vụ việc nghiêm trọng.
Vì vậy, trong thời gian tuyển chọn và gọi công dân nhập ngũ sắp tới, công tác tuyển quân sẽ chú trọng tuyển chọn, gọi nhập ngũ những công dân tốt nghiệp cao đẳng, đại học và con em đồng bào dân tộc ít người, không để “xã trắng” trong tuyển quân.
